Great news for online store owners

Good news for online shop owners. New Zealanders significantly increased online credit card transactions by 95% in 2004, according to Visa. If you thought all of the $400 million in online Visa sales was going overseas then your wrong, with only 16% being consumer spending in overseas shops.

The key to increased spending has been better security features. While also driving consumer spending online is their need to seek a greater range of product not available in local stores. It seems consumers are finally becoming more comfortable about buying goods online.

The New Zealand consumer is booking travel and accommodation online because that’s where the great deals are. Now their saying, why not buy a camera, DVD player or new jacket. This behavior is a reflection of a confident New Zealand economy with a booming housing market. It bodes well for the New Zealand internet industry and the benefits for internet entrepreneurs.
